Bumblebee: Resurrected BigGray

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Just a note to the few lucky people with a Fujitsu Siemens Loox T830: there are Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMs floating around the internet…

In fact, I am blogging using one of them. Here are a few tips:
1. Choose a ROM with FSC Keylock still installed if you will be carrying it on the belt.
2. None of the ROMs will support Video calling at the moment. MMS is installed separately.

Advantages to ROM upgrade:
1. Generally, faster, more responsive and more reliable.
2. If you use pull-email (i.e. You set it to check for emails regularly), the T830 will be a lot more reliable - less hang-ups an lock-ups.
3. If you use email with IMAP servers, you can set the deleted mails to be deleted from the server as well.
4. All the other small niceties of WM6.1 versus WM5.

Bumblebee: Drool…

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

My wife's new toy… Makes me drool! This is the first responsive Windows Mobile phone that I have used! The features are great (gps seems weak… Unable to get a signal lock yet!) and the implementation is good. Drool. I highly recommend the Samsung i780 to anyone considering a Windows Mobile phone.. It will probably be the best PDA phone for this year when it comes to practical everyday use.
