Genki sushi's new product

Went Genki Sushi for lunch after Scary Movie 4. They

give out a small yellow packet. You will get an

octopus in it (if you're lucky) or just a wet hand towel.

colafish : Dolly

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

from wikipedia: Dolly (5 July 1996 – 14 February 2003), a ewe, was the first mammal to have been successfully cloned from an adult cell. The sheep was originally code-named “6LL3″. The name “Dolly” came from a suggestion by the stockmen who helped with her birth, in honor of Dolly Parton, because it was a mammary cell that was cloned.

from BBC : Dr Ian Wilmut also revealed the thinking behind the sheep's name: “Dolly is derived from a mammary gland cell and we couldn't think of a more impressive pair of glands than Dolly Parton's.”

See, Dolly Parton is not just a singer and an actress. Wonder if Dr Wilmut is thinking of cloning Dolly Parton next. *wink wink*

bumblebee: A model to follow…

Amazing story… the second richest man in the world, Buffett (used to be the richest, and probably the richest in terms of ability to cash out; Bill Gates wealth is “stealth” because he cannot really cash it without reducing his net worth at the same time) is giving away his fortune to charity. Interestingly, he is giving it to Bill and Melinda Gates' foundation. They have been good friends even when Bill Gates was #2.

Here's to hoping that Bill Gates won't use the foundation's new-found wealth to promote more Microsoft-ish software and force it upon the recipients of the money.

This is very heart-warming, and amazing. Let's hope that when we are all rich and successful, we will not forget about our own ephemereal existence as well, and to give away as much as we take up. He even made a condition that the money he gives must be used up within 3 years… How much is he giving? 85 percent of USD44 billion!!! It was also very heart-warming how he wanted his wife to inherit the money and to give it away, but sadly his wife died before him… I am not surprised if Bill Gates became more philantrophic, and will become more truly generous after Buffett's gesture of generosity. Buffett is truly a fantastic man. Hope Bill Gates will now follow after this great man.

God-willing, perhaps, this can be a model we follow if we become rich and successful…

The pirates and I
Originally uploaded by hhstylemedlovers.

I always wonder, in the movie piracy syndicates, who

selected the movies to be pirated, and whether the

pirates have really watch the movies, and what would

they learn from watching so many movies. Because i

have seen DVD sellers who know a lot about movies.

You'll be surprise to find not so popular but good

international movies pirated. Many of these movies

will not be found in the original DVD stores because

they are not popular and are not in demand. I have

bought 'Le Grand Bleu', 'Cinema Paradiso', 'Malena',

etc from the night market. You would think these are

the famous international movies and are quite popular,

but believe me, originals are harder to get here.

So i found this in Alor Setar. Obviously, the

pirates have a massive collection of movies because

they have this relatively old movie and i don't

remember seeing the original 'Million dollar hotel'

anywhere. It is also obvious that this bunch of

pirates responsible of making the compilation, don't

really know what they're doing. These 2 movies, beside

both having the word 'million' in their titles, are

quite irrelevant. I saw the compilation of Shrek 1,

Shrek 2 and the horror movie 'Shriek'. LOL.

Nevertheless, i'm very happy with this DVD. i have

not watch the 'million dollar baby' -which i was told

is a damn good movie, and i have indeed been looking

for 'The million dollar hotel'. It was a collaboration

of Bono and Wim Wenders. The movie started with U2's

'For the 1st time', and it is a Wim Wenders. WIM

WENDERS and BONO. I hope i'll have the right mood to

watch these 2 movies soon, with tissue papers by my

side.

It is the pirates who make us more cultured here.

Because of them, we can afford to have some

entertainment, while saving money for our children's

education.

陈升恨情歌说唱会
Originally uploaded by hhstylemedlovers.

colafish : crash!

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Yousiang was asking me the other day. What good movies i'd recommend to watch. Now i have the answer.
After watching 'Crash',i finally understand why it was the Oscar best picture and the 'Broke back Mountain'. Everyone who's not obsessed about gay right would. After all, there are things that are deeper than sexual orientation.
'Crash' is a movie about racial problems. We like to find faults in the differences. In multi racial country, people of a race inevitably see the differences of people from other races, and blame whatever that is not right to the particular race. What happened in the movie, is not unfamiliar in Malaysia. Is just too bad that the movie is banned over here. It is also scary how one bad thing leads to another. The viscious cycle when someone treated you badly and you just want to pass down the badness to someone else, making other people's life difficult as well. This reminded me that i should treat my patients/colleagues well when i start working next, even when i am being ill treated by someone else.
It's an interesting observation Piow noticed, that most events in the movie started by a car crash, and hence the name 'crash'. He and fooji was thinking of making a Malaysian version 'crash' when they watched this movie. Later that night, i couldn't stop thinking about the casts and plots for the malaysian version. There're more than enough ideas from our day to day living.
Talking about racial problem, now is the season again. The local universities intake season. Again, a lot of hooha of injustice and transparency issue. I used to be one of the people complaining. It is never true that if you study hard and get good results you'll get a place in local universities. For those non bumis who cannot afford to get private tertiary education, u just got to believe that everything is fated. If you get into local U and course of your choice, all is well, but if not, you have no choice but to appeal, and while waiting, watch this movie 'Crash'.

Home-made Fried Chicken
Originally uploaded by hhstylemedlovers.

Well… well… uploading upon colafish's request…

What do you think? Delicious?

That was the left-over from my dinner tonight. Started with 750g of chicken. There's probably about 300g left. Where did the rest go? *burp* :P

Doesn't look that good lah. But taste is okay. Best fried chicken pieces I have cooked, but I really suck at cooking fried chicken. Gave me jaw aches the last two times because they were worst than eating pieces of wood…
